Social Activity

The 2019 Social Activity will be a NAME Only tour of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center https://www.indianpueblo.org/.

October 3, 2019

6:00 – 8:00 PM

Cost: $20/person

Transportation to be provided to and from IPCC.  Please RSVP during registration to allow us to adequately plan for transportation needs.

The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is a world-class museum and cultural center created as a place where Pueblo people can tell their story. Known as the gateway to the 19 Pueblos of New Mexico, the IPCC provides an introduction for understanding the state's landscape, legacy, and story of continuance.  In addition to a tour of the museum, we will also have the privilege of watching a traditional Native American dance performance from one of the 19 NM Pueblos.

Visitors can also choose to stay on their own to visit the Pueblo Harvest Restaurant and participate in the “Party on the Patio”.  Pueblo Harvest hosts live music every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening year-round. While you listen (and dance!), enjoy a festive taco bar, all-you-can-eat horno-baked pizza, cocktails and craft beer, and a creative menu of other appetizers.  More information on this event can be found on their website https://www.puebloharvestcafe.com/party-on-the-patio/.  Transportation will not be provided for those staying past 8PM.

5K/1mile/Run/Walk/Roll

Participants may also register to participate in the 7th Annual 5K/1mile/Run/Walk/Roll.  This event celebrates the lives of previous and current NAME members, friend and family whose lives have been touched by cancer.  Proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  Transportation will be provided to a beautiful location near the Rio Grande Bosque.  Wear your PINKEST attire!

Silent Auction

Each year NAME hosts a silent auction to raise money for a local charity that has been selected by the Conference Committee.  The 2019 recipient is Casa QLocated in Albuquerque, Casa Q is a non-profit whose mission is “to provide safe living options and services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) youth, and allies who are at risk of or

experiencing homelessness.”  It is estimated that there are 700-1,500 children and teens that identify as LGBTQ in the Albuquerque metro area that are experiencing homelessness.  Casa Q currently provides an 8-bedroom house serving up to 10 residents at a time and is fully licensed by the NM Children, Youth and Families Department as a Multi-Service Home.

Please remember to bring your Silent Auction Fundraiser items. Each state will have a designated space to show off their donation items. Most participants donate state-themed items to represent their state.  All proceeds will go to Casa Q.
