NAME Executive Director

NAME is pleased to announce the selection of our new Executive Director, Mark Smith, QIDP, CPM, MPA.
Mark has 30 years of public service in Medicaid and Special Education programs, starting in intellectual disabilities at a state hospital as a direct care worker. Mark has worked on developing cost assessments for HCBS waivers, service rates, and restructuring adult vocational services. He also worked creating quality metrics for the Ohio Medicaid Managed Care program.
Mark then worked to create Ohio's school-based Medicaid reimbursement program, serving as SEA policy, fiscal, and RMTS audit lead. He has presented in collaboration with CMS and at USDOE on a number of topics, and has over fifty state, national, and international conferences/summits to his credit. Additionally, Mark has worked directly with many of NAME's strategic partners and sponsors on school-based Medicaid policies.
Mark is a Past President of NAME and has actively served on the NAME Board of Directors for 15 years. He has worked directly with over thirty states on Medicaid and Special Education policy, and is a charter member of Healthy Students, Promising Futures, and the Ohio School Health Services Association. Mark has also served on several governor-appointed state boards for intellectual disabilities, mental health, and vocational transition services. He did both his undergraduate and graduate work at Ohio State University. Mark is a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional, a Certified Public Manager, and an usher for the Ohio State University football program.
